Bluefin Drives Walchem Migration to Smart Water Treatment System
Bluefin enables commercial buildings to use Walchem smart technology to keep their water clean.
Worcester, Mass., Aug. 3, 2020 — Bluefin Technology Partners, a leading Boston area technology and digital product consultant, and electronic controller, sensor, and pump provider Walchem worked together to develop and launch Walchem Fluent™, a cloud-based remote monitoring, control, and reporting system that helps commercial, industrial, and municipal facilities maintain clean water in their treatment systems.
With Bluefin, Walchem launched Walchem Fluent™ in March for a select group of water treatment businesses. Since that time, Bluefin and Walchem have been continually moving facilities onto Walchem Fluent™, so they can reap the benefits of a smart water treatment system.
Walchem Fluent™ is a software tool that combines Internet of Things (IoT), process automation, remote monitoring and control, and data visualization technologies. It works in combination with Walchem controllers to provide real-time insights into all aspects of water treatment — from any location, at any time.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for water treatment company professionals and facilities staff to manage water treatment, regardless of location, and from any desktop computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet," says Walchem President and CEO John Miersma. "Now, with Walchem Fluent™, water treatment professionals from corporate management to field technicians can manage all of their customers’ water treatment program details, including scheduling, using a single, powerful, and flexible tool.”
Walchem’s product management and product engineering teams chose Bluefin as their strategic partner in the design, development, and deployment of Walchem Fluent™. Bluefin evaluated the extensive functional capabilities of Walchem’s controllers and its water treatment customers’ controller needs, expectations, and priorities. Next, Bluefin used its AGILE process to work closely with Walchem to create a smart and connected product that delivers water treatment control for Walchem customers — the way they want it, and at a great value.
"Virtually any product can be turned into a connected product, and we wanted to provide Walchem with a smart water treatment system that is both user-friendly and has real world applications," Bluefin partner and co-founder Jay Cahill says. "Thanks to our AGILE process, we were able to do just that. The result: a smart water treatment solution that Walchem customers can use to keep their water clean day after day."
